as i returned this morning from running the pre-schoolers to school, i contemplated a return to the slumber-spot. i have my running shoes and clothes on and planned to go running this morning to get started on my summer goal of running one 5k per month. but, my body feels tired and i don't really want to run. then, i found this quote in my email and decided against going back to bed. hopefully it will inspire you to get moving as well.
Work hard to improve your mind and body. Nourish your spirit. Do the things you fear.

i'm pleased to introduce...
i know it's been a while since i've discussed/introduced any of my other late-night personalities. since it's 3:27 am, i felt it an appropriate time to do so now.
to review-i have not "clinically" or "officially" been diagnosed with split/multiple personalities. it's a neat thing i discovered all on my own. they mostly visit late at night, perhaps while ryan is out of town, or perhaps (and this is just an example-sort of-not really, it's all true) when i've been diagnosed with (what i believe to be) a SEVERE case of tonsilitis and have spent the past 2-3 days sleeping, hallucinating, and praying i won't ever have to swallow again. then i take meds the doctor prescribed and miraculously feel all better with much more energy. so much energy that i'm posting on the blog at 3:30am. the devil-water (diet coke) i drank today and this evening may factor in as well. also a factor, the house beautiful issue i read before turning out the lights, but after a bit of jay leno.
now that i've completely explained myself, i'm pleased to introduce tonite's personality...daisy the interior design maven!!
daisy has been hard at work coming up with all sorts of plans for this little shanty we call home. of course all designs will be sketched and made/found by me. there will be no spending spree trips to any fancy home stores. just me and my imagination and perhaps a trip or two to ikea.
daisy has come up with some amazing designs for aft's room. we've got a diy 4 poster bed with hand-made drapes. a new closet door concept. an amazingly fantastic "found" bedside table that could be spray painted our choice of color. oh, and the best part...the room's occupant will be so thrilled with daisy's plans that we'll get to work on it in the morning. (it is spring break week) also daisy obviously has not met this room-owner and may not realize the difficult nature of this client.
this leads to the renovation of the kitchen. if only we could get the flow of traffic out of the middle of the kitchen. hmmmmm, that gives daisy a big lightbulb idea. we could simply close off the entry space and move it down the wall a ways to direct traffic into the newly renovated kitchen/library space. i don't know why we haven't thought of this sooner. it actually makes pretty good sense. good thing we hired daisy. and while we're at it, why don't we put in a stairwell from the existing pantry to the basement, so the basement can be accessed from another point in the house. genius!
now did i mention her fun idea for a cork rug in the "make-do" craft room we plan to start work on in the morning, right after we finish aft's room (really, it should only take a couple of hours)? i didn't? oh, well we're going to find cork squares and put them all together with some super cute colored duct tape. we're thinking pink, orange and brown. we're putting together a craft room in the unfinished basement so we can clear space to work on the kitchen/library.
a big thank you to daisy for all of your marvelous ideas that have kept me awake for these many hours. maybe now that they're all down on paper, i can let my mind rest.
so that's daisy. isn't she great? so creative and fun to work with. she can do anything. she's way more fun than wendy-worrier. and really sometimes emily-entrepeneur can get a little over-zealous on the whole smoothie bar thing. really.
also, an important note...the name of the blog has been formally changed from what? to the blog. what? was kind of a dumb name because i wasn't feeling very creative and because most of my life has been spent thinking and saying that very word, with a very embarrassing look on my face. the look comes from my childhood years on the farm. because i am trying to break away from my dumb farm girl looks and vocabulary, i decided to change it to the blog. also, that's what we all call this thing 'round these parts. oh, there i go slippin' up again. dad-gum-it!

Hi everyone. Happy Easter. For Easter I got a swing set, bendaroos, and alot of candy.I love Easter because it brings alot of joy to me. All most ever year we have painted eggs except for one year 2008.Easter is very special because it presents the day that Jesus was resurrected.Learing about Jesus's resurrection makes me feel very good becuase I feel safe when I know that Jesus is alive to protect me. Eggs are enportent to Easter because eggs mean a new life. by, Afton
God's Busy
If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!!
A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments.
He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in, looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.'
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'here I am God. I'm still waiting.'
It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.
The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The otherstudents were shocked, stunned, and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'
The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting American soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'
this is an email i received from my lovely niece, alyx. i like that the marine knew that God does watch over and protect His children. BUT, my favorite part is the comment at the beginning...if you don't know God, don't make stupid remarks. for some reason, i found that to be extremely funny! (i think because i was picturing a passionate, 14 yr old saying it)

noteworthy
i taught my first yoga class wednesday night. it went well. no one walked out. no one passed out. of course, there were only 3 very, very nice girls that i know quite well and are too polite to say anything unkind. that is sort of like taking 2nd place in a race with only 2 people competing, right? but it was fun and a new challenge that i've sort of been dreading for the past month or so. sooooo, thank you to chantel's husband for being out of town so i get this opportunity.
we had a lovely day thursday and enjoyed being out of doors immensely! i mean really, you can not truly appreciate a warm, sunny day until you have lived through the hell we call "a buffalo winter". it was only 60, but here that means flip-flops, sundresses etc.
we have lots of new baby friends that we love holding and buying things for. we love our friends for being brave and reproducing so we can drool all over their new little sweeties! afton is especially fond of babies, although she said we don't need a baby because we've got enough people in our family. amen.
i have been cleaning and getting rid of piles and junk. it feels so good to have empty space. i've had lots of piles around my desk for about 4 years now. but it has either been thrown out, recycled, given away or contained. of course there are a few more items...
i even cleaned out a closet and made a sewing area for my sweet aftie. she thought it was great and promptly fired up the machine, and left a new mess. bless her little heart.
ella is busy accessorizing. she loves jewelry and many hair things in her hair all at once. she loves her best friends, kira and elli. she and kira go to pre-k together and then play after school almost everyday. and elli's mom had a baby recently, so we get to help her mom rest a little by inviting her for playdates. we love these girls! i love listening to their conversations, which are hysterically funny. april fool's day was especially fun. i was fooled over and over and over and over again. mostly tricks like this..."there are no people or trees in the world, april fools!!!" that's 4 year old humor for you.
ryan has been dreaming about how to make our yard look presentable. he did take out some horrible bushes, which made me smile. and the girls have big plans for their own flower gardens, a tree house/fort and a new swingset. we'll see just how many of these dreams come true.
sweet dreams to you.
