hockey

i suppose i'm a true buffalonian now. i was sad when the us men's hockey team lost the gold medal today. i was especially sad for goalie ryan miller. he deserved his own gold medal. we love ryan miller because he's our buffalo sabres goalie. even our girls know who he is. they like to cheer on the sabres and usually know when a game is scheduled, because all the kids talk about hockey at school and on the bus. we've all been lucky enough to attend some sabres games, thanks to honeywell! never thought i'd be a hockey fan.

mid-winter break and more fun

the girls had their mid-winter break this past week and here are some of the things we did.
afton had a few girls over to do a valentine craft and decorate cookies. somehow it turned into a slumber party and pure craziness. fun fun fun.
we went to lunch and to the lov'n clay paint-your-own-pottery studio with friends. lucky us, it happened to be fat tuesday and we got beads at the restaurant!

ella had a couple of friends over to do a valentine craft and decorate cookies (a week late, due to sickness)
check out that headband!
("just like sharpay's, on high school musical", said ella.)
ella purchased it at the children's museum the other day with her hard-earned cash.

afton kicked off the vacation with a valentine party at school.
we also went to see the princess and the frog with friends. i was surprised by how much i liked the movie. i especially loved princess tiana's restaurant dream sequence with the fantastic dress she's sporting.
it's so great to have fun friends to spend our days with. wishing all our friends were in one place instead of scattered throughout the united states.

top 10 reasons to love radiation

10. you get to wear a super comfy gown.
9. meeting all kinds of different people in the waiting area. (one guy liked to tell about all the reasons local restaurants have closed. for example...uno pizza closed because of the bad economy, but the guy at hooters just didn't pay his bills. who knew?)
8. you get a tan (although it eventually turns into a burn and then peels off. oh, and no one can see it unless you go topless.)
7. being taken care of by nice radiation therapists...(see picture) 6. if you go to roswell for your radiation, you can skip around the corner for lunch with friends at Au bon pain!
5. complimentary weekly massage!!
4. a parking pass for a special radiation and emergency only parking lot. lucky.
3. hand sanitizer everywhere!
2. getting in my morning run (approximately 1 1/2 minutes from parking lot to front door)
and the #1 reason to love radiation...
IT'S OVER!

100 days of school and more

yesterday ella-bella celebrated 100 days of school.
apparently, just kindergarten and 1st grade celebrate. (that's according to our resident expert the 3rd grader) everyone had to bring 100 somethings in a ziploc. ella chose 100 different beans.
they also had to bring 100 cents to put toward a pizza lunch.
the beautiful necklace ella's wearing was made with 100 beads.
you get the idea.
ella chose store-bought valentines. afton decided to make hers. she's worked her fingers to the bone, poor thing.
both girls had classroom parties at school with lots of love being exchanged in the form of candy, mostly.
another sticky-sweet day of love.

i have to say that she's right.
